Angel Baby Portraits
I started out as a portrait artist nearly 40 years ago, and though the subsequent years saw my art move into the digital realm, portraits are still a very large part of my work. Much of my work deals with the restoration of portraits: I've been called on to colorize photographs and set out to recreate skin tones, especially in a realistic and natural manner. All this served as experience for what I believe is going to be a life mission of sorts, to help families who have tragically lost a child and feel the need to see that child as a living, sweet angel. When the tragedy of infant death occurs, parents lucky enough to get a photograph are sometimes quite disappointed in the result, but even if the photograph is great, it's still going to be an image that is two dimensional and sometimes the parents just wants more. What I do is create a painterly portrait which feels like a living child in repose. I show the emotions of that sweet and innocent child and it is these qualities that the parents want to hold on to.
Angel Baby Portraits are produced at 20" x 24", and are priced at $300. Each one takes approximately 12 hours to complete, including revisions. and are sent as a high-quality electronic file. The image printed on canvas on a stretcher frame and sent to the recipient is $450. Fill out the contact form to give specific details of your donation. Add the name if it's for a specific memorial, or the word "General", if it's a donation towards helping those who can't afford the cost, in the SUBJECT line, and any other details you wish to add in the message section. If the donation is general, it will be used towards helping families with a portrait of their own. Thank you for your generosity!
I want to be completely transparent with all donations and memorial gifts. I will be keeping a running tab of donations that you'll be able to see, as well as an accounting of all who receive a portrait, which will include a statement from the person themselves. If there appears to be enough interest to justify it, I would look into forming a non-profit foundation in the future. In the meantime, if you have any concerns at all, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
